The Local Plan for the Education of the Gifted was first adopted in 2022. Since then, we have refined the processes and procedures used to identify and serve our gifted students, in addition, our school calendar has shifted to a pre-labor day start necessitating a shift in the screening timeline. Technical edits and adjustments are needed to ensure the plan aligns with current, updated practices.
Recommendation:
Accept the changes as presented to the Local Plan for the Education of the Gifted 2022-2027.

The PGCPS Program of Studies is reviewed annually by school staff by a committee that includes School Board Office staff, School Counselors, Principals, and input from teachers. The goal of the committee is to increase provide a program of course offerings that are aligned to the Virginia Standards of Learning, support students in meeting graduation requirements, and provide for a variety of elective choices to meet student interests.
Recommendation:
The PGCPS Program of Studies committee requests the approval of the following new courses:

4. AP Music Theory
5. Group Fitness
6. Medical Administration
7. Business Law
8. AP Human Geography
No additional funding is requested. Implementation of the courses will cost the division approximately $8,000 which will be covered by the current budget for textbooks, materials, supplies, and professional development.
Rationale:
During the October 16, 2024 school board meeting, the Board approved optional Policy BDDL – Electronic Participation in Committee Meetings from
Remote Locations. This policy is for committees of the School Board created by the School Board to perform delegated functions of the School
Board or to advise the School Board. The School Board does not have committees perform its functions.
All language reads the same except optional Policy BDDL is for committee member remote participation and Policy BDD is for School Board members’
electronic participation in school board meetings from remote locations.
