THIS YEAR, BEASLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HAS RECOGNIZED SOMEONE WHO HAS MADE A PROFOUND IMPACT ON THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS, OUR SCHOOL, AND OUR COMMUNITY. SHE NOT ONLY EXCELS IN THE CLASSROOM, BUT ALSO GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND TO INSPIRE, ENCOURAGE, AND SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE STUDENTS THAT SHE TEACHES.

ONE THING THAT MAKES HER SUCH A SPECIAL TEACHER IS HER PASSION FOR TEACHING AND STUDENT SUCCESS.

SHE HAS A WONDERFUL ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH STUDENTS ON A PERSONAL LEVEL, AND FOSTERS AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE LEARNING IS NOT ONLY AN EXPECTATION, BUT AN ENGAGING EXPERIENCE. AS A TEACHER. SHE LEADS BY EXAMPLE.

SHE COLLABORATES NOT ONLY WITH HER BEAZLEY TEAM, BUT SHARES HER RESOURCES, INSIGHT AND KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHER TEACHERS IN THE DIVISION.

IN ADDITION, SHE FOSTERS THE DEVELOPMENT OF FUTURE EDUCATORS BY TAKING ON PRACTICUM STUDENTS AND STUDENT TEACHERS IN HER CLASSROOM TO HELP IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL TRAINING.

WE ARE EXCITED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE SOME OF THE WONDERFUL THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN HAPPENING AT JJ MOORE THIS YEAR. SO, YOU KNOW, WHEN I DO THESE THINGS, I LIKE TO TALK ABOUT THE ACADEMICS FIRST. OUR STUDENTS HAVE DISCOVERED HOW MATH IS USED IN THE LIBRARY.

OUR LIBRARIANS DID A WONDERFUL JOB PARTNERING WITH ONE OF OUR SIXTH GRADE TEAMS TO FIGURE OUT A LESSON THAT IS MATH RELATED, NOT JUST ALWAYS ABOUT READING AND TRYING TO GET THAT INTERDISCIPLINARY.

I KNOW THE THE LIBRARIANS HAVE ALSO WORKED WITH OUR SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, AS WELL AS THE SOCIAL STUDIES AND ENGLISH CLASSES.

REALLY GOT CREATIVE THIS YEAR. WE HAD A A BOOK CHARACTER PUMPKIN DESIGN, WHERE WE HAD OVER 50 STUDENTS DECORATE PUMPKINS WITH THEIR FAVORITE BOOK CHARACTER. OUR STUDENTS ALSO USE THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD TO HYPOTHESIZE HOW MANY RUBBER BANDS IT WOULD TAKE TO EXPLODE A PUMPKIN.

THAT'S ONE OF THOSE PICTURES OVER THERE, TOO. AND, YOU KNOW, OUR FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE CLASS.

WE EVEN JUST FINISHED THE FOURTH THE THIRD NINE WEEKS VERSION OF THE CUPCAKE WARS WITH A CUPCAKE DECORATING CONTEST.

CONTINUING WITH ACADEMICS, OUR CAREER INVESTIGATIONS TEACHERS INVITED HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO DISCUSS LIFE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND OPPORTUNITIES AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

OFFERS STUDENTS CREATED BOARD GAMES TO EXPLORE DIFFERENT CAREER FIELDS, AND THEY COMPLETED A CAREER SCAVENGER HUNT HIGHLIGHTING DIFFERENT CAREERS THAT REPRESENTED STAFF MEMBERS IN THE SCHOOL. OUR INTRO TO TECH STUDENTS CREATED HOT AIR BALLOONS,

CARDBOARD CHAIRS AND HAD LAND BOAT RACES. A FEW MORE EXAMPLES INCLUDE SELLING WATERSHED PROPERTIES TO ANIMALS, CREATING A VICTORIAN MUSEUM, DESIGNING ROBOTIC HANDS WHICH WAS REALLY, REALLY COOL USING THE COORDINATE PLANE AND MATH TO PLOT POINTS AND CREATE PICTURES AROUND THE HOLIDAYS. CODING WITH SPHEROS AND GETTING EXCITED ABOUT LITERACY THROUGH THIS WAS A FAVORITE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.

BOOK SPEED DATING. COMING INTO THIS YEAR, ONE GOAL OF THE MORE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM WAS TO INCREASE OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH FUN AND ENGAGING ACTIVITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN AND WITH THEIR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS.

WE STARTED OFF THE YEAR WITH MATH AND READING NIGHT, WHICH HIGHLIGHTED THE IMPORTANCE OF MATH AND READING IN THE EDUCATION OF ALL CHILDREN. WE SET UP STATIONS WHERE PARENTS AND STUDENTS COULD ENGAGE IN MATH AND READING ACTIVITIES.

NEXT, WE HAD OUR SOL NIGHT. WE SHARED INFORMATION ABOUT PREPARING FOR SOLS AND HOW PARENTS CAN HELP ENSURE THE SUCCESS OF THEIR CHILD.

RECENTLY, MOORE MIDDLE SCHOOL HELD OUR PBL NIGHT, WHICH PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS TO SEE THE INCREDIBLE PROJECT BASED WORK OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS. OUR BETA CLUB ATTENDED THE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE AT THE GREAT WOLF LODGE.

THEY COMPETED FOR THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, TAKING SECOND PLACE IN HISTORY.

MOORE'S ESPORTS CLUB HAS BEEN UTILIZED AS AN INCENTIVE FOR STUDENTS TO REACH THEIR READING GOALS.

THE ROYAL GUARD AND THE VOLCANOES TEAM PURCHASED FLAGS TO HONOR VETERANS DAY.

MR. DAVIS LED LESSONS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF VETERANS DAY, AND THE STUDENTS PLACED FLAGS IN OUR MEMORIAL GARDEN.

ADDITIONALLY, WE HAD OUR PEP BAND, WHICH HELPED BRING ENERGY TO OUR HOME BASKETBALL GAMES AND MOTIVATE OUR STUDENTS ON THE COURT.

AND THEN OUR STUDENTS AND OUR SCHOOL IS VERY INTERESTED IN GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY AND A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT WE DID.

OUR SIXTH AND SEVENTH GRADE PAWS ART STUDENTS DESIGNED AND PAINTED PLATES THAT WILL BE UP THAT WERE UP FOR AUCTION AT THE VOCAL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER, AND THE PROCEEDS WERE DONATED TO FEED THE NEED.

OUR BETA CLUB RAISED $1,500 FOR THE PRINCE GEORGE ANIMAL SHELTER, AND THROUGH THE FLAG PROJECT FOR VETERANS DAY, THE VOLCANOES TEAM, ALONG WITH THE ROYAL GUARD, RAISED $750 FOR THE DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS.

SO THAT IS THE SUMMARY OF OUR. I STILL HAVE OUR STUDENT OF THE MONTH TO RECOGNIZE, BUT MR. BALDUCCI AND MISS THOMPSON ARE GOING TO HAND OUT SOME GIFTS TO YOU ALL FROM MORE MIDDLE SCHOOL.

GOOD EVENING, AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME COME AND GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THE MANY THINGS THAT WE'VE BEEN DOING THROUGHOUT THE DIVISION WITH CTE, AND WE STILL HAVE MANY MORE THINGS TO PLAN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEMESTER.

I'VE GOT A FEW STUDENTS AND A FORMER STUDENT AS WELL THAT I'D LOVE FOR YOU GUYS TO HEAR FROM.

BUT FIRST OFF, I JUST WANT TO KIND OF SHOW YOU SOME OF THE NUMBERS, AND I HAVE TO TELL YOU, TELL YOU, FOR A SMALL DIVISION LIKE PRINCE GEORGE, OUR NUMBERS ARE QUITE IMPRESSIVE.

WITH 30 TEACHERS, WE HAVE OVER 240, ALMOST 250 SECTIONS OF CTE CLASSES OFFERED FROM SIX TO TO 12TH GRADE. SO LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE CAREER COURSES.

THAT HAS EQUATED TO OVER 700 WORK BASED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES IN INTERNSHIPS IN SCHOOL BASED ENTERPRISES, WHICH ARE TWO MOST INTENSE OPPORTUNITIES AND THE TWO THAT THAT THE STATE HAS PLACED A LOT OF EMPHASIS ON.

SO WE'VE GOT A STRONG FOUNDATION BUILT THERE, AND THIS IS A DUPLICATED COUNT.

BUT THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THIS YEAR THAT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN CTE CLASSES AS ALMOST 4500 STUDENTS.

SO WE HAVE A WIDE REACH WITHIN OUR. WELL, AND JUST TO PUT THAT IN PERSPECTIVE, MISS GIROLAMO, WE HAVE WHAT, AROUND 6000 STUDENTS. SO THE FACT THAT WE HAVE THAT MANY STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST ONE CTE COURSE AND WELL, THIS IS A DUPLICATED ACCOUNT. SO WE DO HAVE SOME STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN MORE THAN ONE, BUT THAT'S BECAUSE THEY LOVE IT.

BUT STILL THAT THAT'S THAT'S THAT'S INCREDIBLE.

YES, YES. OUR UNDUPLICATED COUNT IS 100 STUDENTS.

IT'S GREAT. YES, YES. SO NOW I WANT TO TAKE YOU KIND OF THROUGH THE JOURNEY OF WHAT CTE LOOKS LIKE FROM ELEMENTARY ALL THE WAY UP TO HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND.

AT THE ELEMENTARY, THIS IS OUR TECH FIELD DAY.

THIS WAS CREATED BY OUR STUDENTS, AND IT WAS A WAY FOR OUR STUDENTS TO SHARE THE MANY CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE IN THE CTE PATHWAYS THAT WE HAVE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. OUR STUDENTS ARE GETTING A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN MARKETING ACTIVITIES. THEY'RE MAKING RALLY TOWELS.

THEY'RE DOING COMPUTER SCIENCE AND PROGRAMING THIS.

HEROES SCHOOLS OF ENGINEERING DESIGN CHALLENGES.

THEY'RE FLYING THE DRONES, CHECKING OUT 3D PRINTERS, DRIVING THE ROVERS, ALL TO SPARK THEIR INTEREST IN CTE AND GET THEM THINKING ABOUT WHAT THEIR FUTURES COULD LOOK LIKE. I AM ALL THE THINGS I WANT.

THAT WAS A HIGH SCHOOLER. NOT NOT A FIFTH GRADER. NOT A FIFTH GRADER.

YOU BEG ME FOR PUNCH IT. POUND IT. NOGGIN. SEE YA.

SO YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH FUN OUR STUDENTS HAVE.

AND THAT'S A PROGRAM THAT WE'VE BEEN PUTTING ON FOR ALL OF OUR FIFTH GRADERS ACROSS THE DIVISION. WE GO TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

AND OUR STUDENTS, LIKE THE ONES YOU SEE BACK HERE, ARE LEADING THE CHARGE AND TEACHING OUR YOUNG ONES ABOUT ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES THAT THEY HAVE AHEAD. IT WAS SUCH A POSITIVE EVENT AND WE LOVE DOING IT AND LOOK FORWARD TO DOING IT EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

NOW, AS THE STUDENTS TRANSITION UP TO MORE MIDDLE SCHOOL, IT'S A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT BUILDING A FOUNDATION.

AND SOME OF THOSE THOSE EARLY SKILLS THAT WE KNOW WILL TRANSLATE OVER INTO WHATEVER STUDENTS CHOOSE TO DO.

AS AS MOORE ALREADY MENTIONED IN THEIR PRESENTATION, I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF OF THE SAME EVENTS HIGHLIGHTED.

WE DID OFFER TWO NEW COURSES THIS YEAR AT MOORE WITHIN CTE.

CODING AND ROBOTICS. SO YOU CAN SEE THE KIDS WORKING ON THE SPHEROS AND THEY'RE DOING SOME ONLINE PROGRAMING AND THEN INTRO TO TECHNOLOGY AND THAT COURSE, IF EVERYTHING CONTINUES TO MOVE FORWARD WITH OUR GO TECH GRANT, THAT IS WHERE GO TECH WILL LAND.

AND THEN FAMILY CONSUMER SCIENCES, FAVORITE CLASS OF SO MANY OF OUR STUDENTS.

THEY MAKE GREAT FOOD. SO IT'S DELICIOUS. THEY LOVE BEING IN THEIR CUPCAKE WARS CRIME SCENE KITCHEN CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION.

AND IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS AND KEYBOARDING, OUR STUDENTS ARE ARE REALLY RUNNING THE CLASSROOM LIKE A BUSINESS.

THEY EACH HAVE DIFFERENT ROLES ASSIGNED TO THEM. THEY ROTATE ROLES, SO IT CREATES A GREAT ATMOSPHERE FOR THEM TO START LEARNING THOSE THOSE SKILLS.

AT CLEMENTS, OUR STUDENTS ARE HONING IN ON MORE OF THOSE CTE SPECIFIC PATHWAYS THAT THEY'RE INTERESTED IN.

WE HAVE JROTC AT THE NINTH GRADE LEVEL. WE HAVE JUST OVER 80 STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN JROTC AT CLEMENTS.

SO IT'S CLEMENTS ONLY THEY CAN TAKE JROTC ONE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AS WELL.

AND WE HAVE OVER 50% OF THEM ARE FEMALES. IT'S KIND OF IMPRESSIVE.

WE DO HAVE ONE OF THE LARGEST. I THINK ALEXANDRIA MIGHT BE THE ONLY JROTC PROGRAM THAT'S LARGER THAN US IN THE STATE, AND WE HAVE ABOUT 250 STUDENTS IN THAT. SO WE'RE WE'RE STARTING THEM AT NINTH GRADE, AND THEY'RE GETTING THE CHANCE TO ENGAGE IN LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AS THEY COLLABORATE WITH OUR HIGH SCHOOL JROTC CLASSES, PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS AND MARKETING.

THEY GOT HANDS ON THIS YEAR. THEY STARTED DESIGNING THEIR OWN SPIRITWEAR AND SELLING IT.

DESIGN IN MULTIMEDIA. THEY WORKED ON HOW TO CREATE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ADVERTISEMENTS FOR VARIOUS PRODUCTS THAT THEY CAME UP WITH.

AND WE ALSO HAVE FBLA AND DECA THAT ARE NOW OFFERED AT CLEMENTS AND AND ARE VERY, VERY STRONG AND CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH OUR HIGH SCHOOL FBLA AND DECA ORGANIZATIONS. NOW, THE HIGH SCHOOL IS WHERE OUR STUDENTS ARE TAKING THAT CAREER PREPARATION TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

I'VE LISTED A FEW OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN SO FAR THIS YEAR.

WE RECENTLY HAD OUR REVERSE CAREER FAIR WHERE OUR STUDENTS, OUR SENIORS WHO ARE PLANNING TO STAY IN THE AREA AND IMMEDIATELY ENTER THE WORKFORCE, THEY GET A CHANCE TO FLIP THE SCRIPT AND BUSINESSES WALK AROUND AND TALK TO THEM, AND THEY DO SOME ON THE SPOT INTERVIEWS.

AND THEN WE HAVE OUR INTERVIEW DAY. SO SOME OF THOSE BUSINESSES HAVE REQUESTED FORMAL INTERVIEWS WITH OUR STUDENTS IN THE HOPES THAT THEY WILL WILL SECURE FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT.

SO CAREERS NOT NOT NOT LIKE THEY'RE PART TIME JOBS THAT MANY OF THEM ARE WORKING RIGHT NOW.

AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE INCREASED OUR COURSE OFFERINGS.

VIRWANI IS IS STARTING TO MAKE SOME CHANGES WITH WHAT THEY'RE ABLE TO PROVIDE OUR STUDENTS.

AND BRIGHTPOINT IS ALWAYS OPEN AND ADDING PROGRAMS TO THEIR LIST THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN.

WORK BASED LEARNING, AS I MENTIONED EARLIER, HAS REALLY SKYROCKETED FOR US.

MANY OF OUR CLASSES ARE RUNNING BUSINESSES THROUGH THE CLASSES AS PART OF THEIR CURRICULUM.

WE JUST HAD THE FASHION SHOW LAST FRIDAY NIGHT.

IT GETS BETTER AND BETTER EVERY SINGLE YEAR TO SEE SO MANY STUDENTS COME TOGETHER FROM OUR FASHION MARKETING CLASSES, ADVANCED FASHION CLASSES, OUR DECA CLUB AND OFFICERS IN DECA TO PLAN THE EVENT FROM FROM GROUND ZERO ALL THE WAY UP.

IT IS TRULY PHENOMENAL. OUR CONSTRUCTION TECH.

I KNOW MR. ELY CAN ATTEST TO THIS. THEY HAVE BEEN QUITE PRODUCTIVE THIS YEAR.

BUILDING. THEY'VE BEEN DOING SHED PROJECTS AROUND THE COUNTY AND THE TINY HOUSE IS PICTURED IN THE BACKGROUND THERE.

THEY BUILT AN A FRAME TINY HOUSE AND SOLD IT RIGHT BEFORE THE CHRISTMAS PARADE.

AND THEY WON BEST IN SHOW, BY THE WAY, THE CHRISTMAS PARADE.

IT WAS PRETTY NICE. OUR STUDENTS ALSO HAVE ANOTHER INTENSIVE OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM IS THROUGH OUR INTERNSHIPS.

WE'VE GOT IT. INTERNS THAT WORK, THE SCHOOL BOARD OFFICE AS WELL AS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

WE HAVE SPORTS INFORMATION AND MANAGEMENT INTERNS, SOCIAL MEDIA.

WE HAVE TEACHERS AIDES AT VARIOUS IN VARIOUS CLASSROOMS. REALLY GEARED TOWARDS THEIR INTERESTS, NOT ONLY WITH THE TEACHING BIT OF IT, BUT WE'VE GOT ONE STUDENT WHO IS A CONSTRUCTION TECH TEACHER'S AIDE, AND SHE WANTS TO GO INTO WELDING, BUT SHE REALLY ENJOYS THE ASPECT OF HELPING OTHERS AND DOING PROJECT MANAGEMENT.

SO SHE'S ABLE TO LEARN THAT A LITTLE BIT MORE IN DEPTH.

AND THEN WE HAVE OUR WONDERFUL TEACHERS FOR TOMORROW WHO HAVE BEEN ACROSS THE COUNTY WORKING AT OUR SCHOOLS AND ASSISTING TEACHERS AND IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.

AND WE'RE HOPING TO SIGN QUITE A FEW OF THEM HERE IN IN A COUPLE MONTHS TO OUR GROW YOUR OWN PROGRAM.

NOW, HERE ARE SOME OTHER THINGS. AND I'M SURE SOME OF OUR STUDENTS MIGHT MIGHT CHAT ABOUT THIS.

THIS IS OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN DOING SO MANY DIFFERENT PROJECTS THAT THEY HAVE DEVELOPED ON THEIR OWN AND TAKEN OWNERSHIP OF, AND IT'S REALLY, REALLY DRIVEN THEM ABOVE AND BEYOND MEDIA DAY THAT OUR SPORTS MANAGEMENT CLASSES HAVE BEEN DOING HAS BEEN A HUGE SUCCESS.

I'VE YET TO SEE ANY OTHER SCHOOL DIVISION DO SOMETHING LIKE THEY'RE DOING, AND IT'S DRIVEN BY OUR STUDENTS.

THEY'RE CREATING SOMETHING INCREDIBLY UNIQUE.

RAIDERS ARE ON A ROLL. THEY'RE ABOUT 30 STRONG, AND THEY'RE THEY'RE COMPETING THIS WEEKEND IN BLACKSBURG.

SO WE HAVE SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS GOING ON, AND I'M SO GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT THAT THIS BOARD HAS GIVEN US AND THE SUPPORT FROM OUR TEACHERS. I'D LOVE FOR YOU TO TO HEAR JUST BRIEFLY FROM OUR STUDENTS.

AS MR. ROMO SAID, MY NAME IS RILEY HUMPHRIES AND I AM A SENIOR AT PRINCE GEORGE HIGH SCHOOL.

I'VE TAKEN CTE COURSES THROUGHOUT ALL OF MY HIGH SCHOOL CAREER, AND IT HAS PROVIDED ME WITH A LOT OF AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES THAT I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE WITH YOU. ME AND MY MOM WERE JUST HAVING A CONVERSATION THE OTHER NIGHT ABOUT KIND OF THE STIGMA AROUND CTE CLASSES.

I FEEL AS THOUGH OFTEN THEY'RE VIEWED AS EASY CLASSES OR JUST COURSES TO FILL A BLOCK IN THE SCHEDULE, BUT I CAN PERSONALLY ATTEST TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT, AND THEY PROVIDE SO MANY MORE INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCES. ASIDE FROM THAT, I KNOW THAT CORE CLASSES ARE, OF COURSE FUNDAMENTAL AND NECESSARY IN HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION, BUT FOR ME, CTE CLASSES HAVE PROVIDED SO MUCH MORE WORK LIKE WORKFORCE RELATED EXPERIENCE AND ALSO MORE APPLICABLE INFORMATION FOR THE REAL WORLD, IN MY OPINION. I RECEIVED TWO DIFFERENT NOCTI CERTIFICATIONS.

THROUGH MY CTE COURSES, I HAVE A NOCTI CERTIFICATION IN ACCOUNTING AS WELL AS SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING, WHICH HAVE BOTH PROVED TO BE INCREDIBLY USEFUL BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL.

ONE WAY THAT I'M USING THIS IS IN DECA. THIS WAS MY FIRST YEAR COMPETING IN DECA, SO I WASN'T REALLY SURE WHAT TO EXPECT, BUT AT THE DISTRICT MEET I HAD A BIT OF A SHOCK TO ME.

PLACED FIRST IN MY CATEGORY. SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING AND DECA BREAKS IT UP INTO THE TEST AND THE ROLE PLAY PORTION.

SO TO ME THAT JUST SHOWS THAT THESE MARKETING CLASSES HAVE BOTH SHOWN ME FACTUAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE THINGS THAT I HAVE LEARNED, BUT ALSO HAVE GIVEN ME WAYS TO APPLY THAT TO DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE WORLD, LIKE IN MARKETING.

SO SINCE I PLACED FIRST IN MY CATEGORY, I WAS ABLE TO COMPETE AT THE STATE MEET FOR DECA AS WELL, WHICH A LOT. TO MY SURPRISE, I ENDED UP PLACING SIXTH OVERALL IN MY CATEGORY IN THE STATE.

BECAUSE OF THIS PLACEMENT, I'M ABLE TO ATTEND THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA NEXT MONTH THANKS TO YOU ALL SUPPORT, SO I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY THAT I'VE BEEN PROVIDED IS I AM IN THE TEACHERS FOR TOMORROW PROGRAM THAT MR. ROMO TALKED ABOUT, AND THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, I HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGED TO I POTENTIALLY WANT TO COME BACK AND TEACH CTE, SPECIFICALLY IN PRINCE GEORGE AFTER I GRADUATE COLLEGE.

SO IT HAS SHOWN ME HOW MUCH I'VE PROGRESSED THROUGH THAT.

THEN ALSO, I'VE JUST GOTTEN GOOD AT BEING ABLE TO COMMUNICATE TO OTHER STUDENTS AND TEACH THEM ABOUT DECA AND OTHER THINGS. THE SECOND THING I WANT TO TOUCH ON, SORRY, TOUCH ON IS TEACHERS FOR TOMORROW. TEACHERS FOR TOMORROW HAS BROUGHT LIKE A CAREER PATH TO MY MIND.

SAME WITH JUST DOING THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. TONIGHT WAS FOR THE INTERNSHIP. IT IS ALSO BROUGHT ME A PATH TO WHERE I'VE BEEN.

I HAVE BEEN TALKING TO THE LONGWOOD DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE OR CREATIVE DIRECTOR THERE, AND I HAVE SECURED A SPOT AS AN INTERN WHEN I GET THERE.

SO IT'S KIND OF HARD TO FOLLOW UP THAT SPEECH BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE TOO MUCH PREPARED.

I PARTICIPATED IN DECA. I WAS THE PRESIDENT MY SENIOR YEAR.

I PLACED THIRD PLACE IN ACCOUNTING AT THE STATE LEVEL AND PARTICIPATED IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION.

I TOOK CLASSES WITH MR. AMO AND I GOT MY FAA PART 107 COMMERCIAL DRONE LICENSE.

I TOOK ACCOUNTING CLASSES. I DID MORE THAN THAT.

I I'VE RAN OUT OF THINGS TO TO REMEMBER. BUT WHEN I LOOK BACK, THAT'S ALL I REMEMBER.

I DON'T REMEMBER THOSE CORE CLASSES, EVEN THOUGH THEY BUILT ME THOSE FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS I USE EVERY DAY IN ENGINEERING.

I REMEMBER GAINING THE EXPERIENCE. AND, YOU KNOW, ANOTHER EXPERIENCE I HAD WAS AN IT INTERNSHIP WITH MR. BRUBAKER. AND THAT WAS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE.

AND BECAUSE OF ALL THESE EXPERIENCES AND THE GREAT RESUME THAT I BUILT WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL, I WAS ABLE TO LAND AN ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP IN MY FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE.

SO I'M CURRENTLY A PROCESS ENGINEERING INTERN AT AMSTED RAIL.

WE MANUFACTURE RAILROAD BEARINGS IN PETERSBURG, AND THAT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE, AND IT'S PROPELLING MY RESUME EVEN FURTHER. AND I KNOW I WILL GET EVEN BETTER INTERNSHIPS.

AND I'M JUST INCREDIBLY THANKFUL FOR THE CTE DEPARTMENT.

I COME BACK TO YOU THIS EVENING WITH PART TWO OF OUR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE ON GOAL ONE, ACADEMIC GROWTH AND ENGAGEMENT. AND TONIGHT, ALTHOUGH IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF OBJECTIVES, I WILL RUN THROUGH THEM BRIEFLY TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON THE REMAINING OBJECTIVES FOR THIS EVENING UNDER GOAL ONE.

AS WE LOOK AT OBJECTIVE THREE, IT IS TO PROMOTE STUDENT AND STAFF DIGITAL LITERACY, AND THE STRATEGIES ARE REALLY FOCUSED ON EXPANDING THOSE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE DIGITAL REALM FOR BOTH OUR STUDENTS AS WELL AS FACULTY.

AND WE'VE DONE A LITTLE BIT OF WORK ON THIS. OUR PROGRESS MONITORING TOOL, YOU CAN SEE TO THE LEFT IS IN PROGRESS AS WE HAVE PUT IN PLACE DIGITAL LEARNING PLATFORMS. ALL OF OUR STUDENTS NOW HAVE ACCESS TO CHROMEBOOKS OR IPADS THAT THEY USE ON A DAILY BASIS IN THEIR CLASSROOMS. WE HAVE ALSO IMPLEMENTED A VARIETY OF DIGITAL LEARNING FOR OUR STAFF, AND CONTINUE TO PERSONALIZE THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THROUGH DIGITAL PLATFORMS.

WE HAVE ALSO ARE WORKING TO CONTINUE THE WORK OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING AT J.J.

MOORE MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND WILL ARE SEEKING THE FUNDING FOR THAT GO TECH LAB AT J.J.

MOORE AS WELL. ALL OF THOSE PIECES HELP TO CONTINUE THE WORK OF OUR FIVE CS.

WE'VE ALSO WORKED TO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIPS WITH CAREER EXPLORATION, AND THAT'S INCLUDED THE REVERSE CAREER FAIR THAT MISS SERRANO MENTIONED JUST A MOMENT AGO. WE HAVE ALSO IMPLEMENTED COLLEGE AND CAREER FAIRS AT BOTH NB CLEMENTS AND THE HIGH SCHOOL EACH YEAR, AND WE ARE PARTNERING WITH HOPEWELL PRINCE GEORGE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO PROVIDE IN-SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO MEET WITH EMPLOYERS.

AND THAT INCLUDES LUNCH AND LEARN OPPORTUNITIES, CLASSROOM VISITS FROM EMPLOYERS, AS WELL AS AFTER SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES WITH OUR CLUBS.

OBJECTIVE FIVE IS ENGAGING STUDENTS AND BROADENING SCHOOL CONNECTIONS THROUGH CLUB ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS.

AND WE DO CONSIDER THIS PARTICULAR OBJECTIVE COMPLETE.

WE HAVE REVIEWED OUR EXTRACURRICULAR ATHLETIC OFFERINGS AND FOCUSED OUR RESOURCES TOWARDS OFFERINGS OF STUDENT INTEREST.

SPECIFICALLY, TWO YEARS AGO, WE COMPLETED A SURVEY OF OUR SECONDARY STUDENTS AND ASKED THEM WHAT CLUBS AND SPORTS THEY WERE INTERESTED IN.

THIS BOARD VOTED TO EXPAND OUR SPORTS, WHICH INCLUDED OUR ADDING OUR VARSITY GIRLS AND BOYS SWIM TEAMS. WE'VE ALSO ADDED OUR VARSITY GIRLS WRESTLING TEAM AND ARCHERY TO JROTC.

WE'VE ALSO ADDED ESPORTS TO ALL OF THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

WE CAN, AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO REVIEW THOSE SURVEY FINDINGS AND CONSIDER CHANGES IN NUMBER AND TYPE.

OBJECTIVE SIX PROVIDING RICH AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES FOR CHILDREN.

WE HAVE ADDED 60 SLOTS FOR OUR PRE-K STUDENTS TO ATTEND EARLY CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES HERE IN PRINCE GEORGE, AND WE CONTINUE TO GROW THAT AS FUNDING ALLOWS.

BUT DURING THE TIME OF THIS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, WE HAVE ADDED 60 SLOTS OR THREE ADDITIONAL CLASSROOMS. WE HAVE ALSO PROVIDED ALL OF OUR PRE-K STAFF WITH TRAINING IN THE CLASSROOM ASSESSMENT SCORING SYSTEM, AS WELL AS THE CREATIVE CURRICULUM. IN REGARDS TO STRENGTHENING REMEDIATION AND ENRICHMENT.

WE ARE STILL CONTINUING TO WORK ON THESE OBJECTIVES.

INCREASING FLEXIBLE LEARNING OPTIONS AT THE ELEMENTARY LEVEL.

WE DO HAVE AN INTERVENTION BLOCK IN ALL OF OUR SCHOOLS AT J.J.

AND I FOUND THAT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO INFLUENCE CHILDREN TO LEARN THE OPPORTUNITIES THEY HAVE, YOU HAVE TO START AT AN EARLY AGE. AND MY REACTION WAS, OH NO, YOU AREN'T. AND AND THEN HE CAME BACK AT ME AND HE SAYS, DAD, AND THIS WAS A COUPLE OF DAYS. I WAS A LITTLE HEADSTRONG.

HE CAME BACK AND HE SAID, DAD, WILL YOU AT LEAST GO DOWN THERE AND TOUR THE FACILITY? AND I HAD TO GIVE HIM MY PASSPORT JUST TO JUST TO TOUR THE FACILITY.

AND I FOUND THAT THE RATIO TO GET ACCEPTED TO THE APPRENTICE SCHOOL WAS THE SAME AS HARVARD.

IT'S 15 TO 1, 15 APPLICANTS TO ONE PERSON GETTING IN THERE.

AND IT IT CHANGED MY OUTLOOK ON CTE AND DEVELOPMENT AND AND HOW MUCH MONEY IS SPENT ON EDUCATION.

AND I SAY CHILDREN, I KNOW THEY'RE YOUNG ADULTS AND WHAT THEIR THOUGHTS ARE ON THE FUTURE AND THEIR PATH AND THE I THINK THE GREATEST THING THAT WE CAN PROVIDE AS MENTORS AND EDUCATORS AND, AND THOSE WHO WORK WITH CHILDREN IS THAT THEY HAVE OPTIONS WHEN THEY FINISH HIGH SCHOOL AND THAT THEY CAN TAKE THOSE OPTIONS AND GO AND FULFILL THEIR DESTINY BECAUSE WE'VE EXPOSED THEM TO SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS.

AND THEY KNOW WHAT THE POSSIBILITIES ARE, BECAUSE I THINK EACH PERSON SHOULD PURSUE THEIR THEIR HAPPINESS AND WHAT THEY'RE DRIVEN TO.

AND I COULD HEAR IT IN THAT YOUNG MAN. I MEAN, THE THE YOUNG LADY, I THINK HER NAME WAS RILEY HUMPHRIES.

WOW. BUT THE YOUNG MAN, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS MAYBE NOT AS A REFINED OF A SPEAKER, HE HAD A PATH FOR HIS LIFE AND HE HAD OPTIONS IN THERE.

AND BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE A PLAN B, IT'S ALWAYS TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADJUST.

I WAS LIKE, OH NO, I WANT TO BE AN ACCOUNTANT.

SO I SWITCHED TO AN ACCOUNTING. SO HOW DUMB WAS THAT? MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON MY FIRST PATH. BUT ANYWAY, I AM WHERE I AM AND I'M CLOSE TO RETIREMENT, SO I'M NOT GOING TO WORRY ABOUT THAT. BUT I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE THAT COMES OUT.

WE DO THINK THEY WILL EXCEED THEIR APPROPRIATION.

SO WE SHOULD HAVE FUNDS TO LAST THE REST OF THE YEAR.

SO TO CIRCLE BACK TO THE TWO CATEGORIES PUPIL TRANSPORTATION AND MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS THAT WE BELIEVE WILL EXCEED THE APPROPRIATION.

AGAIN, GOING BACK TO THE 24TH, WE UPDATED YOU ON THE 25 BUDGET AND THE 26 BUDGET.

AND AT THAT TIME, WE MENTIONED TO YOU THAT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE BOTH HAD AMENDMENTS FOR BOTH YEARS.

AND WE MENTIONED THAT FOR 2026, THEY BOTH HAD THE IDENTICAL AMENDMENTS, ONE FOR SUPPORT POSITIONS, ONE FOR SPECIAL ED. I FORGET WHICH CHAMBER NOW, BUT ONE CHAMBER HAD A BONUS IN 26.

ONE CHAMBER HAD A BONUS IN 25. SO THE FINAL AMENDMENTS FROM THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY THAT WENT TO THE GOVERNOR KEPT THE BONUS IN 25.

SO WHEREAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES ARE AN INTEGRAL, INTEGRAL PART OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHEREAS MANY LOCAL BUSINESSES PLAY A CRUCIAL ROLE IN SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOLS.

AND WHEREAS THE ECONOMIC HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY, STATE AND NATION DEPENDS ON A STRONG PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.

AND WHEREAS COLLABORATION BETWEEN LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES STRENGTHENS SCHOOLS AND THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY ALIKE BY PROVIDING A WELL TRAINED WELL-TRAINED AND HIGHLY EDUCATED WORKFORCE. AND WHEREAS AN EXCELLENT PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM IS VITAL TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THIS COMMUNITY AND FUNDAMENTAL TO PRESERVING A STRONG DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD NAMES THE CAMERON FOUNDATION, THE EAGLES CLUB AND ROMA'S RESTAURANT TO THE 2025 VIRGINIA SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION BUSINESS HONOR ROLL, SHOWING APPRECIATION FOR THE ORGANIZATION'S ONGOING SUPPORT OF THIS COMMUNITY'S PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

ROLLOVER FUNDS INTO THE COUNTY CAPITAL PLAN SO THAT WE CAN I CAN RESUBMIT THIS PLAN TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AT THEIR APRIL 8TH MEETING.

AS YOU'LL SEE, THE PLAN ON THE LEFT IS WITHOUT A ROOFING PROJECT AT ANY OF THE SCHOOLS, WHICH WAS THE ORIGINAL PLAN WE SENT OVER.

AND THE PLAN ON THE RIGHT INCORPORATES THE ROOFING PROJECT AT BEASLEY FOR THEIR ENTIRE ROOFING SECTIONS OF G AND B.

SO MR. EALY AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD WERE JUST ASKING TONIGHT FOR YOU ALL TO TAKE ACTION ON WHICH OPTION YOU WOULD LIKE FOR US TO TAKE BACK TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR THEIR APPROVAL.

AND BECAUSE WE WERE ON CATEGORICAL SPENDING, WE COULDN'T SPEND IT. AND WE NEVER APPROACHED THE COUNTY ABOUT RE-APPROPRIATING THE MONEY DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. SO WE'RE WE HAD TO WAIT THROUGH ALL THE AUDITS.

WE DIDN'T KNOW HOW MUCH WE HAD. YEAH. CORRECT.

BECAUSE THERE'S A LAW OUT THERE THAT IF YOU KNOW HOW MUCH YOU HAVE, YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND ASSIGN IT TO, I THINK, A CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT LIKE THIS. YEAH.

IT BECOMES DIFFICULT. SO IT'S ALREADY BEEN ALLOCATED.

WE PRESENTED A VERY THOROUGH IN THE LAST 3 OR 4 YEARS HERE IN PRINCE GEORGE, OUR CAPITAL FUNDS, ESSER GRANT FUNDS, ANY, ANY EXTRA FUNDS FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS HAVE BEEN 100%.

HVAC AND ROOFING FORWARD. EVERYTHING THAT WE'VE PUT ON THIS LIST IS IS JUST AS BIG OF A NEED.

IT'S JUST A LOT MORE SMALLER PROJECTS THAT WE'VE NOT HAD FUNDING FOR IN THE PAST.

JUST FOR INSTANCE, AS A REMINDER, THE VEHICLES ONE OF THE REASONS WE'RE SO FAR BEHIND IS OUR ANNUAL BUDGET FOR VEHICLE PURCHASES IS ONLY $50,000 IN THE ENTIRE BUDGET FOR THE ENTIRE DIVISION. AND AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THAT LIST THERE, WE HAVE ABOUT SEVEN VEHICLES ON THE ROAD RIGHT NOW.

YES. SEVEN VEHICLES ON THE ROAD RIGHT NOW WITH OVER 165,000 MILES ON IT.

AND EVEN THE $50,000 WE DID HAVE TO SPEND THIS YEAR ON VEHICLES WE HAD TO USE TO FUND THE FOURTH BUS.

SO WE COULD STAY SOMEWHAT ON SCHEDULE WITH THAT PLAN.

I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD ARE TIRED OF HEARING IT, BUT WE HAD A LOT OF THAT STUFF BUILT IN OUR CONTINGENCY FUND AS WE KNEW THINGS WERE GOING TO BE OKAY. WE DIDN'T NEED THAT CONTINGENCY. YOU WERE ABLE TO BUY THOSE THINGS, CORRECT? CORRECT. YEAH. AND THEN WHEN THEY WENT TO CATEGORICAL FUNDING, I THINK A YEAR OR SO AGO, THEY TOOK $1 MILLION FROM OUR NORMAL BUDGET. THEY REDUCED IT BY $1 MILLION.

YES, SIR. IN ESSENCE, TAKING THE CONTINGENCY FUND.

AND MAYBE THAT WAS BECAUSE WE DID THAT REAL ESTATE TAX.

WE DO HAVE THE NEXT ROOFING PROJECT THAT'S ON OUR BIG TO DO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT LIST FROM OUR OUR FAITHFUL AND GOLD STUDIES, COMBINED WITH THE ROOFING CONSULTANT IS THE REMAINING PIECE OF CLEMENTS THAT WE HAVEN'T DONE.

WE'VE DONE ABOUT 60% OF CLEMENTS. WE HAVE NOT DONE THE OTHER 40% DUE TO LACK OF FUNDING.

THE MOST PREVALENT CONCERN WE HAVE RIGHT NOW, IT WASN'T JUST FUNDING, IT WAS ALSO TIMING.

WHEN THEY RECOMMENDED WE HAD THOSE ROOF STUDIES, WE PAID THAT EXPERT TO COME IN.

AND THIS IS ACTUALLY A GRANT FUND OF $10,625 RELATED TO SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOL DIVISION IN HELPING STUDENTS MITIGATE THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF CELL PHONE USE, AND WE PLAN TO USE THESE FUNDS TO SUPPORT A MENTAL HEALTH FAIR TO EDUCATE OUR FAMILIES ON THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA, AS WELL AS SOME GUEST SPEAKERS. UNFORTUNATELY WE APPLIED FOR WELL, FORTUNATELY, WE APPLIED FOR THIS GRANT BACK IN THE FALL.

WE WERE APPROVED FOR THE GRANT. RECEIVED OUR NOTICE THAT WE WERE APPROVED FOR THE GRANT, AND THEN THE STATE LET US KNOW THAT BECAUSE SOME OF THESE FUNDS WERE GOING TO BE FUNDED THROUGH TITLE ONE.
