THIS YEAR, SHE TOOK ON STUDENT TEACHING WITH NONE OTHER THAN OUR TEACHER OF THE YEAR, MRS. MAY. LAST YEAR, ONE OF OUR PGC GOALS WAS TO CONTINUE THE IDEA OF EXTENDING LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM BY LOOKING INTO BRINGING EXPERIENCES TO OUR STUDENTS, BY EXPLORATION OF AGRICULTURE AND CULINARY LIFE SKILLS, TAPPING INTO THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF MATH, SCIENCE, ENGLISH, AND EVEN HISTORY CONTENT. SO SOME SKILLS LEARNED ARE CUTTING SKILLS, MEASURING FOOD SAFETY AND HYGIENE.
ALL FOOD IS CUT WITH KID SAFE KNIVES DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY NOT TO CUT SKIN.
AND STUDENTS EXPLORE THE CULINARY WORLD BY COMPREHENDING NONFICTION TEXTS THROUGH RECIPES AND APPLYING MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE IN A HANDS ON, PRACTICAL WAY. IN ADDITION, WE EXPLORE THE CULINARY WORLD BY USING GARDENING TECHNIQUES TO GROW PLANTS FROM SEEDS TO HARVEST.
STUDENTS HAVE BEGUN TO USE MATHEMATICAL CONCEPTS AND LESSONS LEARNED TO DESIGN THEIR OWN GARDEN BOXES, WHICH HOPEFULLY WE ARE ABLE TO BUILD AND IMPLEMENT ON CAMPUS BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
IN ADDITION, WE KIND OF GOING WITH THE THEME OF WORKING TOGETHER THROUGH THE CHALLENGES.
ORIGAMI CAN BE A GREAT CHALLENGE FOR OUR STUDENTS TO WORK THROUGH, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT OTHER PICTORIAL, WRITTEN AND VERBAL DIRECTIONS TO CREATE DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE SLIME.
THEY'RE DOING LIP BALM, DIFFERENT THINGS LIKE THAT, USING AND COMPARING DIFFERENT RECIPES TOGETHER.
PICTURED ARE OUR PARAPROFESSIONAL AND OUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR ENJOYING THE FESTIVITIES.

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PLAN AND ANNUALLY UPDATE THE CIP, THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN.
SO THAT WE CAN SET ANNUAL PRIORITIES. COMPLETE PROJECTS AS FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE, AND THEN KEEP THE CIP UPDATED ON COMPLETED PROJECTS AS WELL AS THOSE IN THE FUTURE. ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE THE MOSELEY FACILITY STUDY PROJECTED TO START IN THIS SUMMER.
ONCE THOSE FUNDS ARE APPROVED FROM THE COUNTY ON MAY 13TH.
EVERYBODY DIRECTOR, BUILDING ADMINISTRATOR, AND UP FIGHTS FOR SOME PIECE OF THE BUDGET PIE EVERY YEAR SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THESE THE OPERATIONS BUDGET AS IS, AS GOOD OF A PLACE THAT'S GOING TO BE ONCE THIS BUDGET IS FULLY APPROVED BY THE BOARD, THE COUNTY AND ALL PARTIES. NOW, SOME OF THE AREAS THAT WE ARE STILL TRYING TO WORK ON AND GROW IN IS WITHIN OUR SCIENCE PROFICIENCY, PROFICIENCY FOR SPECIAL POPULATION STUDENTS. SO WE'RE TRYING TO IDENTIFY SOME COMPETENCIES WITHIN OUR CTE CLASSES THAT COULD BETTER SUPPORT STUDENTS AS THEY ARE TRYING TO MASTER THOSE THOSE SCIENCE SOLS. AND THEN OUR NONTRADITIONAL PROGRAM ENROLLMENT IS STILL JUST BELOW THE STATE MARK, BUT IT HAS GRADUALLY BEEN IMPROVING. AND THAT'S ANOTHER FOCUS THAT THAT WE'RE GOING TO ALLOCATE FUNDS TOWARDS SUPPORTING.
RIGHT NOW WE'RE WORKING WITH MICHAEL CAMPBELL TO HELP REVAMP OUR CTE WEBSITE FROM THE DIVISION PAGE.
SO WE HAVE A CENTRAL HUB WHERE FAMILIES CAN COME AND FIND LOTS OF INFORMATION ABOUT ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS THE CAREER AND WORK BASED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THOSE PROGRAMS. OUR DIGITAL AND SOCIAL MEDIA CLASSES HAVE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB OF TRYING TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THOSE NONTRADITIONAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN DIFFERENT PROGRAMS AND SHARE THEIR STORY IN A WAY THAT KIDS CAN REALLY RELATE TO.
SO IT'S JUST BEEN ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. AND WE ARE SEEING THAT THAT GROWTH, WE'RE STARTING TO OFFER ADDITIONAL COURSES WHERE OUR NONTRADITIONAL STUDENTS ARE PARTICIPATION LEVELS ARE INCREASING. SO I ONLY EXPECT THAT NUMBER TO GO UP WITH THE STATE.
SO YOU CAN SEE IN THE MIDDLE THERE'S THE TARGET THAT THE STATE HAS SET FOR US.

AND THIS IS THE INFORMATION THAT IS REQUIRED TO BE INCLUDED IN THAT PLAN.
THAT EXCEL SPREADSHEET IS CREATED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND IS DOWNLOADED.
AND THE INFORMATION IS JUST INPUT THERE. THE FIRST PART IS JUST POLICIES.
POLICY STATEMENTS AND STATEMENT OF ASSURANCES.
SO THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS THAT THE SCHOOL DIVISION IS REQUIRED TO DO, FOR EXAMPLE, HAVE POLICIES TO ADDRESS THE SERVICING OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES TO ENSURE THAT WE ARE WITHIN REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS FOR PROVIDING FAPE OR THE FREE APPROPRIATE PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS.
WE ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE AN INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT.
TITTIES. I DO NEED TO SHARE HOW THE FUNDS WERE SPENT LAST YEAR, SO THAT IS INDICATED IN THE CHART THERE. AS YOU CAN SEE, THE 611 FUNDS, THERE'S QUITE A BIT MORE MONEY THAT IS OFFERED UNDER THAT AREA.
THAT IS THE LARGER GROUP OF STUDENTS THAT WE ARE SERVING THERE.
I'VE INCLUDED THE PROJECTED AMOUNT AS WELL AS THE ACTUAL EXPENDITURE.
IT WAS QUITE CLOSE. WE WERE ABLE TO PAY FOR 100% OF SALARIES AND BENEFITS FOR 14 OF OUR FULL TIME FTES FOR LEARNING SPECIALISTS ACROSS THE SCHOOLS UNDER 619.
AGAIN, THAT'S FOR OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD. IT IS A VERY SMALL AMOUNT.
WE AREN'T ABLE TO PAY FOR 100% OF ANYTHING, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO HIT 41% OF SALARY AND 25% OF BENEFITS FOR ONE OF OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATORS. SO THE WAY THAT WE MONITOR THAT IS THROUGH MONTHLY CERTIFICATIONS THAT IS SIGNED BY ME.

AND SO WHEN I PRESENTED TO SEEK AT THAT TIME THE MO WAS STILL WE WERE KIND OF WORKING WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO CLARIFY OUR REPORTING FOR THE MO. AND SO AFTER THE MEETING WITH CAC, WE WERE ABLE TO FINALIZE AND GET APPROVAL FOR THAT.
AND THERE WERE SOME SLIGHT TWEAKS THAT WERE MADE IN TERMS OF THE MO AREAS.
AND SO WE WERE ABLE TO PASS THE TEST UNDER BOTH LOCAL PLUS STATE FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR PROJECTIONS.
BUT OUR GOAL IS ALWAYS TO MEET THAT MO. THE NEXT AREA IS FOR ANY SCHOOL DIVISIONS THAT HAVE DISPROPORTIONATE IDENTIFICATION OF CERTAIN STUDENT GROUPS WHEN IT COMES TO SPECIAL EDUCATION.
THEY ARE REQUIRED TO SET ASIDE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF FUNDS IN ORDER TO IMPLEMENT INTERVENTIONS TO ADDRESS THOSE DISPROPORTIONALITIES, AND I'M HAPPY TO REPORT THAT PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE SCHOOL DIVISIONS WITH THOSE DISPROPORTIONALITIES.
SO WE ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SET ASIDE THAT FUNDS.
BUT SCHOOL DIVISIONS ARE ALLOWED TO VOLUNTARILY SET ASIDE FUNDS IF THEY SO CHOOSE.
WE DID NOT. AND THE SECOND BULLET, THERE IS AN UPDATE AS WELL, BECAUSE SINCE I MET WITH CAC, THERE HAS BEEN A NEW PRIVATE SCHOOL THAT IS OPERATING WITHIN PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY.
AND SO THE INFORMATION FOR THE PROPORTIONATE SET ASIDE, WHAT THAT MEANS IS THAT ANY STUDENTS THAT ARE PARENTALLY PLACED IN A PRIVATE SCHOOL AND OR HOME SCHOOLED, THE SCHOOL DIVISION DOES NEED TO SET ASIDE AN AMOUNT THAT IS COMPARABLE TO WHAT STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THIS SCHOOL DIVISION IS TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE THAT THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE SERVICES. AND SO AS WE WORK TOWARDS NEXT SCHOOL YEAR, I'LL BE REACHING OUT TO THE ADMINISTRATION AT THE PRIVATE SCHOOL TO SEE THEIR LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION. TALK TO THEM ABOUT THE CHILD FINE PROCESS AND PRINCE GEORGE'S CHILD.
FIND OBLIGATIONS TO IDENTIFY, TO EVALUATE, IDENTIFY AND SERVICE STUDENTS THAT PARENTS WISH TO RECEIVE SERVICES THROUGH A SERVICE PLAN. SO THAT INFORMATION COMES FROM WHAT WE ENTER IN THE DECEMBER 1ST COUNT.
